1st Kings Chapter 19

           Elijah Run Go Horeb

1. Now Ahab tell Jezebel everitin wey Elijah do and how he take kill all di prophets wit sword.
2. Naso Jezebel send messenger go meet Elijah sey, “By dis time tomorrow, make di gods deal wit me, con even kill me, if I no kill you like one of dem.”
3. Fear catch Elijah and he run for hin life. Wen he reach Beersheba for Judah, he leave hin servant for there.
4. He con waka for one day enta inside di desert. He reach where one juniper tree dey, he sidon under am, con dey pray sey make he die. He tok sey, “I don see enuff, Baba-God, kill me, I no beta pass my ancestors.”
5. Naso he lie down under di tree, con start to dey sleep. One angel just touch am, con tok sey, “Stand up make you chop.”
6. He look round, con see cake near hin head—wey dem bake for hot stones, wit jug of water. He chop, con drink, and he lie down again.
7. Baba-God angel come back di second time, he touch am, con tok sey, “Get up make you chop, becos di waka too much for you.”
8. So he stand up, he chop, con drink. As di food give am pawa—naso he travel for forty days plus forty nights until he reach Horeb wey be Baba-God mountain.
9. He enta inside rock, con sleep for there for night.

Baba-God Shpw-face to Elijah

Naso message from Baba-God come meet Elijah: “Wetin you dey do for here Elijah?”

10. Elijah ansa am, “E don tey wey I dey serious wit Baba-God Almighty. Di pipo of Israel don fashi your agreement, dem don break your altars, con kill your prophets wit sword. Na only me remain, and now dem dey try to kill me sef.”

11. 12. Naso faya show afta di earthquake, but Baba-God no dey inside di faya, and afta di faya, e con get one sound of voice wey dey tok-small-small.

13. Wen Elijah hear am, he use hin cloth take cover hin face, con go outside go stand for di mouth of di rock wey open. So one voice come meet am, “Wetin you dey do for here Elijah?”

14. Elijah ansa, “E don tey wey I dey serious wit Baba-God Almighty, becos di pipo of Israel don fashi your agreement, dem don break your altars, con kill your prophets wit sword. Na only me remain and dem wan kill me sef.”

15. Baba-God con tell am sey, “Go back to di side wey you follow come, and make you go di desert of Damascus. Wen you reach there, anoint Hazael as King of Syria.

16. And make you anoint Jehu wey be di son of Nimshi as king of Israel, con anoint Elisha wey be di son of Shaphat from Abel-Meholah to take your place as prophet.

17. Jehu go kill any pesin wey escape di sword of Hazael, and Elisha go kill any pesin wey escape di sword of Jehu.

18. But I keep seven thousand for inside Israel—all of dem wey neva bow dia knees to Baal, and all of dem wey dia mouth neva kiss am.”

Elijah Call Elisha

19. So Elijah komot from there, con see Elisha wey be di son of Shaphat dey work for one farm wit twelve groups of two-two malu wey dey work for di farm, for hin front. And nahin dey control di twelfth one. Elijah go meet am, con throw hin cloth for hin shoulder and naso he waka komot.

20. Naso Elisha leave hin malu, con run follow Elijah. He tok sey,“Make I kiss my mama plus my papa bye-bye, and I go follow you.” Elijah con ansa am, “Go back! Abi wetin I don do for you?”

21. So Elisha leave am, con go back to hin malu, and he kill dem. He use di wood from di tool wey di malu dey use work—take make faya to cook dia meat. He pass di meat to di pipo and all of dem chop. Naso he stand up, con follow Elijah to work as hin servant.
